“But when a long train of abuses and usurpations,
pursuing invariably the same Object
evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism,
IT IS THEIR RIGHT, IT IS THEIR DUTY,
to throw off such Government,
and to provide new Guards for their future security.”
~ Declaration of Independence
If you really want to know what the 2nd Amendment is for then I suggest you read the Declaration of Independence for the United States of America.
The answer is plain and simple.
For those of you who are too intimidated by your elected officials or by any other “authority” to say it, I will say it for you.
The 2nd Amendment is to ensure We the People are always armed as best as possible so that IF NECESSARY we may put down a government (elected representatives) that has become despot and replace them with new representatives that will respect & govern within the constraints which our U.S. Constitution lays out for them.
Now, go ahead and say it out loud. Stop being intimidated. Speak it without fear. Teach it without fear.
FOR IT IS NOT ONLY OUR RIGHT, IT IS OUR DUTY.
If either side should feel fear then let it be our government which is fearful of We the People. Not We the People who are fearful of our government. Why? Because as Thomas Jefferson is credit with saying,
“When governments fear the people, there is liberty. When the people fear the government, there is tyranny.”
All of our children (generation after generation) should be aware of their RIGHT & DUTY and all of our government run schools should be teaching them of their RIGHT & DUTY ……… if said government is looking to serve the people, rather than control them.
